Simmer is a recipe discovery app. This policy explains what data we collect,
how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Collect
We collect only what's needed to make the app work:
Email address — if you sign in to sync your data across devices. We use magic link authentication; we never store your password.
Push notification token — if you enable notifications, so we can send your Cook Tonight reminders.
In-app activity — recipes you save, mark as made, and queue for tonight, stored so your kitchen persists across sessions.
Cooking preferences — dietary preferences and cooking level you set during onboarding, used to personalize recipe suggestions.
We do not collect your name (unless you provide one), location, contacts, or any other device data.
How We Use Your Information
To sync your saved recipes, made history, and tonight queue across devices when you're signed in.
To send Cook Tonight reminders at 6 pm when you have recipes queued (only if you opt in).
To personalize recipe results based on your dietary preferences.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond operating the app.
Third-Party Services
Simmer uses the following services:
Supabase — database and authentication. Your account data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy.
Spoonacular — recipe data and food information. Recipe searches are sent to Spoonacular's API. Spoonacular Terms.
Expo / EAS — app infrastructure and push notification delivery.
RevenueCat — in-app purchase management, if you upgrade to Pro.
Data Retention
If you sign in, your data is stored on Supabase's servers for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below.
If you use the app without signing in, data is stored only on your device.
Children's Privacy
Simmer is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above.
Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
